Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian in Copiague today.
Craig Smith was driving a 2009 Chevy van southbound on Great Neck Road when he struck a pedestrian crossing the street.
The pedestrian, described as a white male, was pronounced dead at NassauUniversityMedicalCenter in East Meadow at 1 p.m. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
