Suffolk County Police Homicide and Arson Squad detectives are investigating the death of a person found in a burning car in Mastic Beach today.
Seventh Precinct officers responded to a call of a vehicle on fire in the driveway of 86 Orchid Drive at approximately 1:04 p.m.
The Mastic Beach Fire Department extinguished the fire and found a body in the front seat on the drivers side, burned beyond recognition in a dark colored Saturn.
The victim was pronounced dead by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The investigation is continuing.
