Incident: Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash
Location: Spence Street and Fifth Avenue, Bay Shore

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a 55-year-old pedestrian this morning.  

Police responded to a 911 call of a man lying in the roadway on Spence Street, just west of Fifth Avenue, in Bay Shore at 5:39 a.m. When police arrived, they discovered the man was deceased. Preliminary investigation revealed that the man suffered injuries consistent with being hit by a large vehicle, possibly a truck.  

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.  

Detectives are asking anyone who may have information about this crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
