We recognize that some segments of our population, adult and children, are vulnerable and require services to assist and protect them. Central to the mission of the Suffolk County Department of Social Services is the belief that all people want to achieve self-reliance and take pride in their accomplishments. Our goal is to enable public assistance clients and potential clients to gain self-sufficiency by providing temporary financial and/or heating assistance, food stamps, securing emergency housing and offering other services that will assist in removing barriers to independence.
