A 61 year old Mount Sinai woman was caught this morning trying to pass off a life-size mannequin as her passenger in order to use the HOV lane.
D/S Robert Howard picked up on the peculiar passenger while on HOV patrol. He became suspicious after viewing the passenger wearing sunglasses and using the visor on a cloudy morning. Closer inspection revealed a female mannequin fully dressed with a long dark wig, blazer, shirt and scarf. The driver, a Ms. K.A. Frascinella, d.o.b. 10/1/48, of Mount Sinai, was issued a traffic ticket for operating in the HOV lane without a passenger, which carries a fine of $135.00 plus two points on your license.
This type of violation is taken very seriously; unchecked abuses of this type can lead to serious traffic congestion.
Sheriff Vincent F. DeMarco stated, “At first glance this may seem humorous, but it is not a joking matter when you drive off with a ticket.”
