Suffolk County Clerk Judith Pascale was recently awarded the Computerworld 2010 Laureate Award and was a top 5 finalist amongst winners in the Government category. The award honors those who use information technology to better society. “I am proud to accept this award on behalf of the 1.5 million residents of Suffolk County. The honor bestowed upon the Suffolk County Clerk’s Office is not only validation of our hard work and vision, but is a testimonial to how government can now be seen as innovative, progressive and cost effective. In addition, it serves as a dramatic example of how successful implementation of information technology benefits our residents,” commented Pascale. The Computerworld Honors Program is dedicated to a singular and ongoing mission: “A Search for New Heroes.” The search annually identifies and records the accomplishments of the men and women, organizations and institutions that are creating the global best practices in leading the world’s ongoing information technology revolution. Applicants from over 21 nations competed in the following ten global industry and government sectors: Business & Related Services; Education & Academia; Environment, Energy & Agriculture; Finance, Insurance and Real Estate; Government; Healthcare; Manufacturing; Media, Arts & Entertainment; Non-Profit Organizations; and Transportation. The Suffolk County Clerk was one of 36 Computerworld Laureates and a top five finalist in the Government category. The other finalists included the City of Ryde, Australia; City of New York Health & Human Services; Alameda County California Social Services Agency; and the Birmingham City Council, England. The Suffolk County Clerk’s Office is a two-time recipient of the Laureate Award, having received the honor previously in 2006. Honors were presented at a gala awards night in Washington, D.C. on June 7th. “To be recognized again by Computerworld’s Honors Program serves as yet another example of the creativity and innovation of the Suffolk County Clerk’s Office, and adds to an impressive array of awards that include Municipality of the Year by InfoWorld, Municipal Leader of the Year by American City and County Magazine, the Most Innovative IT Projects by InfoWorld and Federal Computer Week’s E-Government Institute’s Knowledge Management Award,” concluded Pascale. |
