Highway Fleet Maintenance

The Highway/Fleet Maintenance Division of the Department of Public Works consists of three major operational units – Highway Maintenance, Bridge Operation and Maintenance, and Fleet Service Garages.

• The Highway Maintenance Section is responsible for maintenance and repair of over 400 miles of County maintained roadways ranging from the Nassau/Suffolk Line to Montauk Point. This section also maintains commuter-parking facilities located in Melville, Wyandanch, Deer Park and Ronkonkoma. This unit also maintains the grounds and parking lots at all County office facilities.

• The Highway Maintenance Section administers the Department’s Adopt-A-Highway program.

• The Fleet Service Garages are responsible for the fueling and maintenance of over 2500 pieces of County equipment operated by all agencies of the County.
